A
born and raised
native of Wilmington,
NC and the surrounding area, my existence
started when Edward
Teach (Blackbeard) would terrorize our coast
with his beard ablaze and his cannons loaded.... 
Aside
from being a great great great great great grandson
of Edward Teach and having an insatiable desire
to fire a cannon upon
unsuspecting boaters & jet skiers - my
life began as a boy growing up in Teachey,
NC (Duplin
County) and Carolina
Beach.
I
attended Harrells
Christian Academy (Sampson County) from Kindergarten
until 12th grade. I have a BS in Marine Biology
from UNCW and
a MS in Biology/Ecology from the University
of Guam. I went to school in Guam for 4 years
- coming home every Christmas and summer. My capabilities
as a graphic designer developed while I pursued
a career in biology and worked as Retail Sales
Manager at ComputerLand in Guam. Many of my friends
in Guam are
artists or designers and their guidance 
and
encouragement further sparked this interest. I
truly enjoyed my time spent in Guam but there is
no place like being home in North Carolina. I started
a Ph.D.
in Molecular Ecology before I found out that
I was meant to be a creative type. Go figure. But
while in Guam, I published 4 scientific articles
in peer review journals, presented a poster in
the International Echinoderm Conference in Dijon,
France (my poster gave a girl a seizure) and
discovered a new genus of parasitic snail (Hypermastus
mareticola). I was also nominated for the
Governor's Art Award for graphic design.
I enjoy taking photographs of things, people
and places. Especially things that have not changed for many years.
I wish I could stop
time. Lately, I have been creating digital
artwork and have shown some of my work at St.
John's Museum of Art during "Cyber Night". I am a member
of the National Association
of Photoshop Professionals, a severely demented and obsessed fan
of Apple Computer and an avid user
of Adobe products.
Photoshop is my favorite application and using it is a hobby of mine
as well as a tool for my occupation. I was certified as an Adobe Certified
Expert (ACE) in Photoshop in November, 2002. 
I
was the Commercial Production Manager & Webmaster
for WECT
TV-6 for 7 years and I am now a Biology instructor
at a local college. I also love to fish
offshore and play with my three Jack Russell
terriers, Yuki,
Hana and Elvis aboard my boat - Sea
Monkey. Arrrrrr!
